Daylight, Composed 10/15/14 (sonnet)

Daylight Composed 10/15/14

When Daylight breaks upon the hills afar,
and shatters into colours bright and new:
Outshining all, even the brightest stars;
Replacing dark, bleeds gold and green and blue.

It shineth out in jaunting sunburst rays;
“The new day now has come!” it sings aloud.
Within this spectacular landscape lays
a beauty which can never be too proud.

The Sun shines on the world its hope and bliss,
bringing to each contour of earth its light.
Then, through my window, it leaves me a kiss –
gently ending my sleep, as now ends night.

Knowing it may one morning fail to rise
The sun left this same beauty in your eyes.
